Student Representatives

The City of Oak Harbor adopted provisions for student participation to ensure that youth perspectives and voices are heard and considered in the local decision-making process. Students can serve on the Arts Commission, Marina Advisory Commission, Park and Recreation Advisory Commission, Planning Commission, and Police Community Advisory Board.

To be eligible, students must reside in and attend high school in Oak Harbor. Each student representative will serve a one-year term that commences in September of each year. A student representative may apply for reappointment to the same position for successive terms.

Vacancies are publicized on the website and through outreach to local high schools when city resources allow for publication and outreach. If more than one application is submitted, all applications shall be forwarded to the board, commission, or committee for consideration. After the applications have been considered, nominations shall be voted on by the board, commission, or committee in an open public meeting.
