Overview

The Historic Preservation Commission of Oak Harbor was created with the passage of Ordinance Number 1822, which added Chapter 18.50 "Historic Preservation" to the Oak Harbor Municipal Code. The goal of having code regarding historic preservation and an active Historic Preservation Commission is for the City to obtain Certified Local Government status through the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP). The Historic Preservation Commission will have authority under OHMC Chapter 18.50 to act on applications for historic status, and will also serve in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and the City Council.
