Animal Control Officer

If you have an animal-related emergency such as an injured animal in the roadway, or a vicious animal, call 911.

All animal-related calls for services should be made directly to I-COM Dispatch. The 24-hour Non-emergency number is: 360-679-9567.

The Animal Control Officer responds to calls for service and patrols city limits of Oak Harbor and areas of Navy Housing within City Limits during business hours. Services include picking up stray, abandoned and unlicensed animals in public areas; provides assistance in rescuing injured and trapped animals; and assisting law enforcement where animals are involved.

The Animal Control Officer works in conjunction with staff from the Whidbey Animal Improvement Foundation (WAIF). The Animal Control Officer speaks with individuals, neighborhood meetings, civic groups, and schools on animal care and control issues and to answer questions and help problem solve animal complaints.
