Biography
Sandi Peterson is a dedicated community leader and proud Oak Harbor resident since 2007. A former Planning Commissioner and current Chair of the Civil Service Commission, she brings deep experience in thoughtful, civic-minded governance. Professionally, Sandi has led small businesses and worked as a Realtor, property manager, and administrator – skills she continues to apply in service to her community.
A thyroid cancer survivor, Sandi knows the power of advocacy – first for herself, then for her husband. She brings that same determination to addressing community needs. A passionate believer in the value of open, civil dialogue, Sandi co-founded Civility First, a nonprofit that promotes respectful conversation and seeks to bridge divides across communities.
Sandi and her husband Brian – a 22-year U.S. Navy veteran (Retired Senior Chief) who continued with 25 years of public servant – have been married for 39 years. They are the proud parents of four grown children, grandparents to eight grandchildren, and great-grandparents to four great-grandchildren. When she’s not supporting her community, Sandi enjoys traveling, family game nights, birdwatching, and celebrating life’s everyday moments.
