Mr. Smith comes to the City of Oak Harbor with over 28 years of experience from around the United States. Before coming to the City, he was the Director of Parks, Facilities, Recreation, and Airport for the City of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He holds multiple degrees in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership, including a Master's in Public Administration.
An interesting fact about Brian is that he won the Guinness World Record for the largest scavenger hunt in 2014 as part of a recreation and economic development initiative with Google's Fiberhood.
The City Council created the Parks and Recreation position in 2022 to improve recreation opportunities and manage several important projects for our community, including Windjammer Park, Harbor Heights, developing more revenue-generating community programs and grants.
