Oak Harbor, WA - October 2, 2024 - The City of Oak Harbor is thrilled to announce the arrival of "Angel of Creativity” (Angel de la Creatividad), a stunning sculpture created by acclaimed Mexican artist Sebastián. This monumental piece, which was gifted to the City, is set to become a vibrant landmark that will enhance our already charming community.

Sebastián sculptures celebrated for creativity and hope, are located all across the globe, including Buenos Aires, New York, and beyond. With "Angel of Creativity,” Oak Harbor joins an esteemed list of cities that have embraced Sebastián’s work, transforming public spaces into vibrant cultural centers. His art is recognized worldwide for its vibrant expression and cultural significance and invites communities to celebrate their unique identities. This sculpture, rich in culture, identity, and creativity, will serve as a symbol of artistic expression and a beacon of inspiration.

In the spirit of collaboration, we encourage all residents to come together to support this beautiful addition to our city. Let us celebrate our rich diversity, unique cultures, and innovative ideas as we welcome "Angel of Creativity" with open minds and open hearts.

The journey of "Angel of Creativity" to Oak Harbor was made possible through Sculpture Northwest (SNW). Valued at $500,000, the sculpture was purchased by the late George Drake, a humanitarian, philanthropist, and founder of the Big Rock Garden in Bellingham. Tragically, Mr. Drake passed away before he could see the sculpture installed in its permanent home. In honor of his vision, the George Drake Estate has generously donated the sculpture to the City of Oak Harbor, covering the majority of installation costs through SNW.
