[ARCHIVED] Oak Harbor Fire Department is Conducting a Live Fire Training Burn

OHFD Live Burning Fire Event Map

Live Fire Training Event ImageOn Saturday, March 25, the Oak Harbor Fire Department (OHFD) will be conducting a live fire training burn at 1045 SE Ireland Street in Oak Harbor. This is a single-family home just south of City Hall, and across the street from the First United Methodist Church. The Training exercise is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am with completion no later than 4 pm.

The structure will be burned in a very controlled fashion with fires being ignited and extinguished numerous times throughout the course of the event. A live fire training session provides invaluable training and practical experience for the firefighters of the OHFD, Navy Region Northwest Fire Department, North Whidbey Fire and Rescue, and South Whidbey Fire and EMS.

Road Closures

  • SE Ireland Street will be closed between closed between SE Barrington Drive and SE Pioneeer Way.
  • SE Hathaway Street (located on the west side of the property) and SE Barrington Drive (located north of City Hall) will be open to traffic in all normal directions throughout the training event.

We ask everyone traveling in the area to slow down and use caution while the training event is occurring.

The training burn will be conducted weather permitting. In the event of unfavorable wind conditions, we will reschedule for a later date.
