[ARCHIVED] FERRIES: WSF rolling out a two-season plan for San Juan Islands, giving riders more predictability

FERRIES: WSF rolling out a two-season plan for San Juan Islands, giving riders more predictability

Big news for ferry riders in the San Juan Islands: for the first time in two decades, the fall schedule won’t pack up and leave when winter hits!

Instead, Washington State Ferries is rolling out a two-season plan that stretches from September through June, giving islanders more trips, more predictability, and—yes—fewer headaches.

Think of it as the same reliable sailing plan, just with a longer run, shaped by what the community asked for and backed by state funding.

EVERETT: End is in sight for Everett paving project

A project to repair pavement on southbound I-5 through Everett is in its final stretch and will wrap up in October.

Nighttime drivers through Everett should expect the following closures through Friday, Oct. 3.

  • Southbound I-5 off-ramp to westbound State Route 526 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Eastbound SR 526 to southbound I-5 on-ramp from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 off-ramp to southbound SR 99/SR 527 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southeast Everett Mall Way to southbound I-5 on-ramp from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 to Rest Area and Weigh Station off-ramp from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Drivers should follow signed, detours, and expect delays.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY: US 2 reduced to one lane nightly through Oct. 14 between Gold Bar and Monroe

US 2 will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly through Tuesday, Oct. 14 to grind and repair pavement. There will be no work on Fridays.

Flaggers and a pilot car will guide drivers through the work zones as we repair sections of pavement along US 2 from Gold Bar to just west of Calhoun Road (mileposts 17-29).

This work is part of the Northwest Strategic Pavement Preservation project. Crack sealing combined with targeted pavement rehabilitation will extend the service life of the roads and provide a smoother trip for highway users.

LYNNWOOD: Overnight closures and lane reductions

Sound Transit contractor crews will work in Lynnwood as part of the ongoing Lynnwood Link Extension project. Work involves the following closures:
