The Wright Blend-Coffee & Conversation with Mayor Wright Takes a Summer Break

Oak Harbor, WA, June 25, 2025 – The Wright Blend-Coffee and Conversation with Mayor Wright, is taking a well-deserved summer break. The Wright Blend launched in January 2025, and was designed to bridge the gap between City Hall and the public, offering residents a chance to engage directly with the Mayor and City staff to discuss issues and answer questions.

As families take time to relax and travel this summer, the Mayor and staff remain committed to the community. Residents are encouraged to continue submitting questions and concerns via email at info@oakharbor.org. The City wants to make sure that the lines of communication remain open.

The Wright Blend has proven to be an effective platform for having meaningful conversations. Through these discussions, many topics have been explored, ranging from homelessness and new businesses to city maintenance, street repairs, and downtown redevelopment. Residents have also asked about code regulations, the permitting process, transit, and the future of the Oak Harbor Marina. The conversations have led to many improvements throughout the city.

Mayor Wright expresses his deepest gratitude to the Oak Harbor community for their active participation and commitment to attending and asking the difficult questions.

"I want to personally thank everyone who took the time out of their busy days to join the conversations. Your engagement has been helpful in identifying key issues, finding solutions, and shaping our city. These conversations are not just a place for sharing concerns, these conversations are helping my administration make real changes. I’m also extremely grateful to my team, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make these events a success" said Mayor Wright.

The Wright Blend has not only helped solve daily issues but has also led to the launch of other initiatives to improve life in Oak Harbor. One of those initiatives is Community Catch Up, an event that invites local partners and organizations to answer questions face-to-face from the community. So far, the City has hosted representatives from the Oak Harbor School District, Island County Emergency Services, ICOM, youth programs, and more.

As The Wright Blend takes a break for the summer, the conversation doesn’t stop. The Mayor and City staff will continue to listen to your concerns and ideas, and we encourage residents to reach out via email to stay connected. The Wright Blend will return in the fall, and we are excited to continue the important work and answer the tough questions. Visit www.oakharbor.gov for more information.
