City of Oak Harbor's Salary Commission Recognizes Mayor’s Full-Time Commitment

Oak Harbor, WA— The City’s Salary Commission has approved an increase in Mayor Wright's salary, recognizing his full-time commitment since taking office.

This decision reflects the growing needs of our community and acknowledges the increased full-time responsibilities that Mayor Wright has taken on to address key issues such as economic development, infrastructure improvement, transparency, and community engagement.

“The approval of this salary adjustment by the Salary Commission recognizes the full-time work I have been committed to since assuming office,” said Mayor Wright. “This support will allow me to continue being more accessible and responsive to our residents, and to work more closely with the city council and staff to achieve our shared goals for a thriving, vibrant community.”

The City’s Salary Commission, comprised of four members, conducted a thorough evaluation before making their recommendation.

“The careful consideration of the Salary Commission has determined that the evolving needs and demands of the City of Oak Harbor require our Mayor's full-time commitment and focus,” said Tiffany Scribner, Chair of the Salary Commission. “This decision was made with the recommendations, guidance, and research of the city’s support staff, as well as a thorough review of the legalities and comparables throughout our area. It is our belief that this adjustment is not only necessary for our community but will lead to a more efficient, effective, and responsive government.”

The City of Oak Harbor remains committed to transparency and accountability in its operations, and we will continue to keep the public informed about important developments as we move forward.
