Mayor Wright has lived on Whidbey Island for over 27 years. He moved to Oak Harbor in 1996 following his six-year enlistment with the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed in Guam and on Whidbey Island.
Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, Mayor Wright began his academic career at Skagit Valley College. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Western Washington University and an MBA from the University of Washington.
Mayor Wright spent ten years working for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where he was trained through their Senior Management program. He became a Certified Instructor and created training curriculums. In 2013, Mayor Wright became a managing partner at Pacific Grace Tax and Accounting. He took over as the sole owner in January 2023.
Mayor Wright recently earned his Juris Doctorate Degree in Tax Law from Georgetown University in early 2024.
As an accomplished businessman, he received the Best of Whidbey’s Best Accountant and Best Businessperson awards. Mayor Wright serves the community by participating in the following organizations:
- Board of Directors of the Washington State Association of Accountants & Tax Professionals
- Board of Directors of the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce
- Treasurer and President of the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce
- Member of the Rotary Club
- Mentor for Juvenile Mentoring Program through Island County
- Board Member of Steps (formerly known as Toddler Learning Center)
His interests outside of work include reading, golfing, and listening to music. Mayor Wright is committed to providing positive leadership and is proud to be serving the community of Oak Harbor as Mayor.
